Awareness Program on Student Safety and Support Initiatives

NICHE organised an awareness program featuring Shri. Parthiban, Deputy Superintendent of Police, as the keynote speaker. The session focused on empowering students with knowledge about various support mechanisms available during distress. Shri. Parthiban introduced the "Police Akka" initiative, which deploys experienced female officers to address harassment concerns and foster trust. Students were also educated on the provisions of the POSCO Act and the functionalities of the "Kaval Udhavi" app, designed to report incidents of misbehavior.

Ms. Sheeba from Thuckalay Police Station, designated as the "Police Akka" for NICHE, will regularly visit the campus, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for female students. Her contact information was shared to facilitate direct reporting of concerns. The session also addressed the severe consequences of drug-related issues, emphasizing preventive measures and legal implications.
