Scholarships Schemes

Scholarship is a financial award given to students based on their achievement, talents and other criteria such as parental income, community, etc. Its primary use is to support and encourage education by helping students cover the costs of tuition, books and other educational expenses. Scholarships can make education more accessible and alleviate financial burdens for deserving individuals.

1. Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities - Provides 2 schemes
  • Post-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
  • XI, XII, Post matriculation Diploma/ Certificates, Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in India, Master's Degree/ Diploma from any University recognized by UGC/AICTE.

  • Scholarships for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities
  • For Graduate and Postgraduate Degree/ Diploma in institutes notified by DEPwD.

Eligibility
  • Students with 40% or more disability.
  • Not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme.
  • In case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under the schemes will be admissible to the twin.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students

Eligibility
  • Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent.
  • Pursuing regular degree courses and not correspondence or distance mode or pursuing Diploma courses;
  • Pursuing courses at colleges/institutions recognized by All India Council for Technical Education and respective Regulatory Bodies concerned.

National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students
- Scholarship (Formally Top Class Education For Schedule Tribe Students)

Eligibility
  • ST students who have secured admission in the notified Institutions and courses approved by the Ministry will be eligible for the scholarship under the scheme.
  • This is a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and provides 100% funding to ST students in courses and institutes approved and notified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme For Ministry of Railways

Eligibility
  • Professional Degree Courses like BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, BEd, BBS, BCA, MCA B. Pharma, etc. duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India(MCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) etc.
  • Students should have secured 60% and above in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 12th Std., Diploma/Graduation.
  • The scholarship is admissible for only two wards per family and should be ensured by the beneficiaries as well as by the concerned zonal Railways/RPSF.

  • Either of the parents of the students should be Beedi, Iron Ore Manganese & Chrome Ore Mines, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, Cine worker with at least six months service.
  • The Applicant must have passed the last qualifying examination in first attempt. However, Students promoted to the next class are also eligible to apply for the above scholarships.
  • Candidates for the award of scholarships should have taken regular admission for studies at recognized institutions in India in any course of general or technical education, including medical, engineering and agricultural studies.
  • The Educational Institute must be Government/Government Recognized Institute.

7. Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (Backward Classes)

PM YASASVI Central Sector Scheme Of Top Class Education In College For OBC, EBC And DNT Students

Eligibility
  • Should have secured admission in a full-time prescribed course in any of the notified institutions according to the general selection criteria prescribed by the concerned institution.
  • In case the number of eligible students admitted exceeds the number of slots allotted to the institution, the scholarship will be restricted to the top students in the inter-se merit list based on the admission criteria for the course. However, if there is more than one student with equal marks for the last available slot in an institution, preference should be given to the student with the lower family income. The remaining students from OBC/EBC/DNT category admitted in the institution shall be eligible for the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) administered by this Ministry through State Governments/UT Administrations, provided such students are otherwise eligible under the said scheme.
  • The benefit of the Scheme will not be provided to more than 2 siblings in a family. The students will submit an affidavit in the Institution to certify that he/she is not the third sibling of the family who is availing benefit under the scheme.
  • The scholarship will be terminated if the student fails to get promoted to the next semester/class.
  • As the fund is majorly earmarked for OBC, preference would be given to the OBC students while considering under the scheme.

Eligibility
  • Candidates should be domicile of Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
  • Students must have passed 12th examination from JKBOSE or CBSE affiliated schools located in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
  • Candidates who want to take admission under Lateral Entry Scheme have to pass Diploma in Engineering from the Polytechnic Institutes recognized by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
  • Candidates are compulsorily required to apply online on the AICTE web-portal and verify their documents through nearest Facilitation Centers of J&K and Ladakh within time frame.

Eligibility
  • Students who have passed Class XII or equivalent examination from a school situated within NER through a recognized Board of Education including Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • The scholarship is available for those students only, who are pursuing a recognized UG degree programmes as specified and notified by UGC from time to time.
  • Only the students, who are already admitted in the first year of UG degree programme in an eligible university/college/institution within India, are eligible to apply.

Eligibility
  • The scholarship is open only to a student who is a permanent resident of any of the North Eastern States.
  • HSSLC/Senior Secondary Leaving certificate examination from a recognised State/Central board with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
  • Scholarship shall be admissible to students who get admission in Diploma, Degree, Post-graduate or registration in M.Phil. / Ph.D courses of any institute recognized by the Government.
  • The grant of scholarship for M.Phil and Ph.D would be after the registration of the students with the University.
  • The Scholarship will not be available for internship or any practical training.

  • INR 10,000 per annum during undergraduate studies (first 3 years).

  • The scholarship is renewable based on performance in each academic year.
Scholarship to Son and Daughter of Differently Abled Persons
Eligibility
  • The applicant must be the son or daughter of a differently abled person who holds a valid Identity Card issued by the Welfare Board for Differently Abled Persons.
  • This TN scholarship is applicable for students pursuing education from Class 11 up to Postgraduate level, including those enrolled in ITI or Polytechnic diploma courses.

  • Selected students will receive financial assistance of up to INR 6,000 per academic year.
  • The amount can be used for tuition fees, books, and other educational expenses.

Eligibility
  • Must be a differently abled student enrolled in Class 9 to Postgraduate level.

Eligibility

Eligibility
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, students must belong to one of the following categories:
  • Adi Dravidar community
  • Tribal communities
  • Adi Dravidar students converted to Christianity
  • Be among the top 1000 boys and 1000 girls in Tamil Nadu based on their Plus 2 Public Examination scores.
  • Continue their education in higher studies (UG or equivalent courses) for the next five years.

  • This TN scholarship is awarded for a period of 5 years, provided the student continues their education without interruption.
Puthumai Penn Scheme

The Pudhumai Penn Scheme provides Rs. 1000 per month stipend to girl students who continue their education after completing school. Introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the scheme focuses on empowering girls through education and reducing dropout rates. It supports female students financially while they pursue higher education in colleges, universities, or diploma programs. The initiative also encourages gender equality and educational advancement for young women.

Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme

The Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme provides Rs. 1000 per month stipend to eligible male students to support their higher education after school. The scheme is implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu to encourage students from government school backgrounds to continue their college education. It aims to reduce financial barriers and increase enrollment in higher education institutions. The stipend helps students meet basic educational expenses while pursuing undergraduate or diploma programs.

Income Criteria
  • For students belonging to SC and OECs, there is no income limitation.
  • For students belonging to OBC category - The income limit is INR 1 Lakh per annum for +2 courses, Degree, PG and Professional courses.
  • For students belonging to other categories - The income limit is INR 1 Lakh for +2 course, Degree, PG and Professional courses.
Scholarship Amount

For Students Belonging to SC Category

  • - INR 630 - The rate of the stipend is designated for students who are studying in a college below 8 kms from their residence.
  • - INR 750 - The stipend is designated to students who are studying in a college above 8 kms from their residence.
  • - INR 1500 - The students who are pursuing professional courses and are residing on their own will receive this amount as a stipend.

For Students Belonging to OBC Category

  • - INR 200 (Day Scholars) and INR 250 (Hosteller) - The students must be pursuing PG or professional courses listed among the programs eligible for the scholarship.
  • - INR 100 (Day Scholars) and INR 150 (Hosteller) - The students must be pursuing polytechnic courses.

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child
Eligibility
  • The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time 1st year Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college.
  • This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only. Admission to PG Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
  • Age: Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
Scholarship Amount
  • Rs. 36,200 per annum.

NICHE Schemes

Engineering - For Under Graduate Courses

  • Students who have secured 80% or more marks in Plus two/ higher secondary is eligible for 20% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • Students who have secured 80% or more marks in the entrance examination conducted by NICHE will be eligible for 20% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in Plus two/ higher secondary is eligible for 30% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in the entrance examination conducted by NICHE will be eligible for 30% scholarship of the tuition fee.

Engineering - For Post Graduate Courses

  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in UG is eligible for 10% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in the entrance examination conducted by NICHE will be eligible for 10% scholarship of the tuition fee.

Other Courses

  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in Plus two/ higher secondary is eligible for 30% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • Students who have secured 90% or more marks in the entrance examination conducted by NICHE will be eligible for 30% scholarship of the tuition fee.

NCC Cadet Scholarship

  • Eligible cadets will be receiving 10% scholarship in their tuition fee.
  • Students will be eligible for 100% free coaching in the NICHE-Defence Training Academy at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education which provides systematic and pragmatic training to the budding engineering graduates of the University who aspire to become commissioned officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

Covid Crisis Relief Scholarship

  • Students who have lost both their parents due to COVID 19 will be eligible for 100% scholarship of their tuition fee.
  • Students who have lost one of the parents will be eligible for 50% scholarship of the tuition fee.

Differently Abled Students Support Scholarship

  • Students who are having more than 40% disability will be eligible for 25% scholarship of the tuition fee.
  • The son/daughter of a person with disability will be provided with 15% scholarship of the tuition fee.

Regional Scholarship (Kanyakumari District)

  • Students hailing from the District of Kanyakumari will be eligible for 10% scholarship of the tuition fee
