Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, NICHE, and Karunalayam School for Intellectually Disabled, Mulagumoodu, KK dist on 15.05.2026 at the IQAC Hall, NICHE. The MoU was signed by the Principal of the school and the Registrar of NICHE in the presence of the HOD and faculty members of ASLP. The collaboration aims to provide clinical training and rehabilitation services for differently abled children. BASLP students will participate in assessment and therapy activities under faculty supervision, promoting practical learning and community-based rehabilitation services.

Research Colloquium

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology organized a Research Colloquium for BASLP students to encourage research interest and scientific presentation skills among students. The programme provided a platform for students to present their research ideas, projects, and academic work before faculty members and peers. BASLP students from the department actively participated in the colloquium and presented their research topics in various areas related to Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Faculty members evaluated the presentations and provided constructive suggestions and guidance for further improvement. The programme enhanced the research knowledge, presentation skills, and academic confidence of the students. The colloquium also promoted scientific thinking and encouraged students to actively involve in research activities within the department.

Memorandum of Understanding with Jothi Nilayam School for Differently Abled

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and Jothi Nilayam School for the Mentally Challenged, Palapallam, to strengthen academic, clinical, and rehabilitation activities. The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Head of the Department, faculty members, and representatives from the collaborating institution. The collaboration aims to enhance clinical training, research activities, academic–clinical integration, and community-based rehabilitation services. The partnership will provide students with hands-on clinical exposure and opportunities for professional development through workshops, camps, awareness programmes, and training sessions. The programme concluded with discussions on future collaborative activities and implementation plans under the MoU.

Memorandum of Understanding with Jothi Nilayam School for Differently Abled

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, NICHE, and Jothi Nilayam School for Differently Abled on 12.05.2026 at the IQAC Hall, NICHE. The MoU was formally signed by the Director of the school and the Registrar of NICHE in the presence of the Head of the Department and faculty members of ASLP. The collaboration was initiated with the objective of promoting clinical training, rehabilitation services, and community-based support for children with different abilities. As part of this academic and clinical partnership, BASLP students from the department will actively participate in the assessment and therapeutic management of differently abled children under the direct supervision and guidance of faculty members. The MoU aims to strengthen practical learning opportunities for students while ensuring quality rehabilitation services for the beneficiaries. The event concluded with mutual appreciation and commitment towards interdisciplinary cooperation and inclusive healthcare services.

TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Campaign under the initiative and guidelines of the RCI Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of So

Brief Description of the Event: The Department of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology, NICHE, Kanyakumari organized a “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Campaign – Banner Display & Dissemination of Awareness Message in Social Media” on 11th May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, NICHE, with the participation of 55 students and faculty members. The programme was conducted to create awareness about Tuberculosis (TB), its symptoms, prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment adherence among students and faculty members. The awareness programme was organized in alignment with the initiative and guidelines of the RCI Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan mission. An informative banner carrying the campaign theme “TB HAREGA DESH JEETEGA” was prominently displayed in the seminar hall to emphasize the importance of TB awareness, timely medical consultation, and adherence to treatment for effective disease control and prevention. As part of the campaign, students and faculty members actively participated in disseminating awareness messages through posters and social media platforms to promote community participation and social responsibility towards building a TB-free India. The programme successfully strengthened public health awareness within the institution and encouraged collective efforts in supporting the national mission for tuberculosis eradication

Extension Activities-2

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology organized an RCI–CRE Extension Activity programme on “Classroom Management for Children with Differently Abled” to enhance the teaching competencies of special educators. Faculty members, including the Head of the Department, served as resource persons for participants from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The sessions focused on behaviour management, communication strategies, structured learning, and inclusive teaching practices. A total of 107 participants benefited from the programme, which successfully promoted awareness and professional skill development in inclusive classroom management.

Extension Activities

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology organized an RCI–CRE Extension Activity programme on “Classroom Management for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders” to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of special educators. Faculty members, along with the Head of the Department, served as resource persons for participants from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The sessions focused on behaviour management, communication support, structured teaching, and inclusive educational practices for children with ASD. A total of 124 participants attended and benefited from the programme, which promoted professional learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Guest lecture

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, NICHE, Kanyakumari, organized a Guest Lecture Series on the topic “A Dual Approach to Vestibular Assessment: Insights from cVEMP & oVEMP.” The session aimed to enhance students’ knowledge regarding vestibular assessment and the clinical applications of cVEMP and oVEMP in diagnosing balance disorders. The lecture provided insights into the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system, recording procedures, interpretation of responses, and the importance of these tests in audiological practice. The programme was highly informative and beneficial for students, helping them understand the practical and clinical relevance of advanced vestibular assessment techniques.

Guest lecture series-2

The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, NICHE, Kanyakumari, organized a Guest Lecture Series on the topic “Aphasia: Insights into Basics.” The session was delivered by Preethy Susan Reni. The lecture provided valuable insights into the basic concepts, causes, characteristics, and management of aphasia. The session was informative and beneficial for students in understanding the fundamentals of aphasia and its clinical significance.
