An Awareness Programme on Stress Management and Suicide Prevention was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, 23/09/2024. The program aimed to address the growing concern of stress among students and professionals, highlighting the importance of mental well-being and the need for effective strategies to prevent suicidal tendencies. The session was conducted in collaboration with experts from Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Kulasekharam, renowned for their contributions to mental health.

The day is celebrated across India in memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great philosopher, teacher, and former President of India.
An industrial visit to the Indian Rare Earths Limited (IRE) facility in Kochi was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE). This visit aimed to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world industrial processes, particularly in the field of mechanical engineering. The students observed various aspects of mineral processing, extraction techniques, and the mechanical systems used at the plant.
The program was structured to cover essential topics and practical aspects of NDT. The sessions were divided into both theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations of different NDT techniques. The key sessions included: • Introduction to Non-Destructive Testing: Overview of NDT, and its importance in industries like aerospace, automotive, and civil engineering. • Types of NDT Techniques: A detailed discussion on various NDT methods, including Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Eddy Current Testing (ET). • Applications of NDT: Real-world applications of NDT in various industries, with case studies showcasing its importance in quality assurance and safety. • Practical Training: Hands-on sessions where participants were trained to use NDT equipment, including ultrasonic flaw detectors, magnetic particle testing kits, and liquid penetrant materials.

Some typical activities we found there are Vocational Training, Job Placement Assistance, Counseling and Guidance: Offering emotional support, career counseling, and guidance on personal Accessibility Services, Life Skills Training Advocacy and Awareness Programs, Recreational Activities .Therapeutic Services, Social Skills Development, Community Integration Programs etc. The main aim is to empower individuals with disabilities by equipping them with skills, knowledge, and resources necessary for independent living, meaningful employment, and active participation in society. The welcome address was delivered by the Convener of the programme and Head of the Department Dr.R Rajesh. The resource person of the event was Dr. S Vinodh Professor, Department of Production Engineering. National Institute of Technology, Trichy. During his lecture he highlighted the importance of journal papers, the relationship between the teaching-learning process and research activity. How the teaching-learning activity can be improved by research activity. He highlighted the structure of the research paper elaborately. He also explained the methods to find out the journals for publication of the paper. He also highlighted the indexing, impact factor, cite score, journal quartile etc. He also explained in detail about journal-based Metric and Author-based Metric. In the programme, all the Mechanical Engineering Department staff members and the staff members from another department also participated. In this programme, more than 30 participants actively participated. He clarifies the doubts of the participants. The Alumni Association and Department of Mechanical engineering of Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE), Kumaracovil, have Organized an Alumni interaction on the theme “Careers in Engineering” on March 25, 2024. The speaker of this program was Er. Ronnie Rabin Garwin, Chief Executive Officer at Petrostax LLC FZ, an alumnus (Batch 2013-17) of NICHE. Programme started with the welcome address by Dr. R. Rajesh, (HOD Mechanical NICHE) which was followed by highly motivational lecture delivered by the speaker. The interaction was designed to guide and motivate the students to take up the correct careers with full seriousness and in the right spirit. The following topics were discussed during the interaction: 1.Career Guidance- Selection of Career Stream 2.Preparing for the Corporate Challenges. 3.Personal SWOT analysis/GAP Analysis. 4.Skills sets required for the chosen stream. Around 75 students attended the programme. Few of the questions from the audience were taken up by the speakers during the Q & A session. The workshop on “Robotics, CNC and 3D Printing” for final year polytechnic students of Noorul Islam Polytechnic College was held on February 21 2024 in NICHE. In this workshop more than 55 students participated The workshop began with a formal welcome address. The session started sharply at 11.00 pm. The resource persons were the faculty members of Mechanical Engineering department. They were Dr.S.Raja, (Assistant Professor), Mr. R. Dhinesh (Assistant Professor). The workshop was relevant to the title and were well-appreciated by the students. After completion of this workshop students have felt encouraged to explore these areas further. The certificates were issued to all the participants.

The stage was set, and the atmosphere was filled with anticipation on the morning of October 12, 2023, as the FAME Inauguration Function commenced at the AC Auditorium. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp, symbolizing the enlightenment that would follow. Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan, Chancellor of NICHE, then welcomed the esteemed audience. The audience was treated to a detailed report of FAME by Dr. A. Unni Krishnan, the FAME Coordinator, followed by the much-anticipated Presidential Address delivered by Dr. R. Perumalsamy, Pro-Chancellor (Academic) of NICHE. The day was graced by the presence of Mr. G. Simiyon, Assistant Director of MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Government of India, Ministry of MSME, Tirunelveli and Madurai, who delivered the Chief Guest Address. Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, Kumara coil, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NSS Unit Number-4 of NICHE organized one day Blood Donation camp in our campus on 09-11-2023. This event was organized in the Nano technology Engineering Department. In this event the importance of blood donation was explained to the students. Blood test was carried out to identify the blood group of students. All the officials, Staff members and students participated in this event. More than 50 participants donated blood. A large number of students from the department of Mechanical Engineering and other departments also participated in this blood donation camp. The certificates were distributed to the blood donors. It was a very useful and enlightening event related to blood donation for all those who participated in it.
We celebrate Teachers’ Day every year throughout the country on 5th September. This day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – second President of India. The great academic philosopher, and one of the most well-known diplomats, scholar, president of India and above all a teacher. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday has been observed as teachers' day. A celebration will be conducted at our department by our faculty on 5th September 2023. The whole function was planned by our beloved Head of Department Dr. R. Rajesh and other faculty members. The event ended on the happy note where all the staff were given sweets.

Then Students procession with Chendai Melam along with Maveli and Vamana in the institution campus through various departments. Everyone enjoyed the procession. Then Ona Sadhya was arranged for more than 200 persons including students and staff members. Everyone was highly satisfied with Ona Sadhya. The inaugural function started at 10 am. The Convenor of the programme and the Head of the Department Dr R. Rajesh delivered welcome address. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr P Thirumalvalavan, Registrar, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education. During his inaugural address he insisted on the importance of Machine learning in the forthcoming years. The ReSOURCE person for the professional development programme was Dr Sishaj P Simon. Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NIT, Trichy. In the morning session he explained about the importance and growth of data management in nowadays. He explained about the importance of Machine Learning, and the difference between machine learning and deep learning. He also explained about various decision-making tools in artificial intelligence. In the afternoon session he explained in detail about neural networks. In addition to that he explained the programming in artificial intelligence. In this professional development programme nearly 50 people participated actively from various departments on the campus. He clarified the doubts of all the participants. The conference is held at Noorul Islam centre for higher education University, Kumarkovil on 20th April 2023. More than 200 people participated in the deliberation of the conference. The inaugural function held at AC Auditorium. The welcome address was given by Dr.R.Rajesh, HOD/Mechanical, NICHE, Inaugural address was given by Dr.A.K. Kumaraguru, Vice Chancellor, NICHE, felicitation was given by Dr.P. Thirumalvalavan, Registrar, NICHE. Shri M.S.Suresh, Project Director , Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, is the chief guest. He had delivered the chief guest address. The souvenir of the conference has been released and has been distributed containing the abstract of research findings to the participants. A conference proceeding containing full research papers submitted for presentation was also distributed to registered participants. Three parallel sections were arranged for contributory talks. 75 contributors of research paper were presented during this conference. The best two papers from each technical session were awarded in the valedictory function held in mechanical engineering smart classroom at 4.00 PM. The participants gave good feedback about the conference.
Student – Alumni Interaction meeting was held on 13th April 2023 at Mechanical Smart class room. It was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Noorul Islam Alumni Association. Our prominent alumni Er. A. V. RATHISH KUMAR, Managing Partner, VIJAYA FISH NET – Nagercoil. interacted with our Mechanical Engineering students. The session was started with welcome address by our HOD Dr. R. Rajesh and Professor Dr. G. M Joselin Herbert highlighted the importance of alumini interaction. The alumni has motivated the students, and taught the strategies to apply various levels of jobs in website and industries. He advised the students and emphasised the need for commitment, involvement and passion to finish their task within the period of time. Noorul Islam center for Higher Education, kumara coil Department of Mechanical Engineering, organized Parents Teachers Meeting on 24-02-2023 in the smart class room of department 10.30 am .The welcome address was delivered by the head of the Department DR.R.Rajesh and DR.R.Ramasawmy. Performance of the students with their parents was discussed. Parents were given feedback on their wards performance in the exam .It was a great interaction between the teacher and parents for the development of their children’s .where they discussed both the strength and areas of impoundment. The workshop on “Robotics, CNC and 3D Printing” for final year polytechnic students was held on February 23, 2023 in NICHE. The workshop saw the participation of 204 Students from the various polytechnic colleges in Kanyakumari district. The workshop began with a formal welcome by Dr R.Ramesh pallappan followed by presidential address by registrar Dr.P.Thirumalvalavan . The registrar stressed upon the importance of robotics in today engineering field. The Chief Guest, Er.W.Balan, Deputy General Manager, Dalmia wind farm spoke about the importance of technology today and criteria’s in facing the interview. He also stressed upon the need of higher education. The Chief Guest also sounded out the emerging Core Focus Areas of mechanical engineering. This event was organized in the Bio Medical Engineering Department. In this event importance of blood donation was explained to the students. Blood test was carried out to identify the blood group of students. All the officials, Staff members and students participated in this event. More than 50 participants donated blood. Large number of students from the department of Mechanical Engineering and other departments also participated in this blood donation camp. The certificates were distributed for the blood donors. It was very much useful and enlighten event related to blood donation for all those who participated in it.

The students of mechanical-engineering celebrated the Onam on a humungous magnitude of grandeur on 8th September 2019. The cultural events planned for the day were as follows- Thiruvathira, solo song, solo dance performance, filmy dance, battle of beats, fashion show, group singing. There lay a great deal of practice and effort in organizing and ensuring these events were well planned and perfected before the day of the event. Students put in a great show for the spectators that comprised of both the ones participating and the rest of the college crowd. Famous songs and dance sequences were kept in mind during these performances and gave rise to a lot of exuberance and happiness to the audience.
